POLL RESULTS!

Thanks everyone who voted! I could'nt agree more with those results. Kenny Chesney is by far my favorite Country artist, especially in the summertime! All of his songs (lyrics combined with melody) reflect summer attitudes. "Summertime", "No shoes No Shirts No problems",and "When the Sun Goes Down" are a few of my personal favorites. These results really prove my theory about country music and summertime. The favorite country artist has the most summertime songs/music. Thanks for summing it up for me guys! Now lets get ready for SWEET SUMMERTIME (: (: (:

@ A loss for words.

Sitting in my room, looking around, listening to my country playlist (fully loaded with fantasitcally enhanced summer songs), attempting to come up with an intellectual blog entry. Sometimes blogging isn't the easiest task to accomplish, especially without inspiration. My mind is wandering to off topic ideas, not even closely related to country music, such as my COLOSSAL AP EXAM in the morning! Three different essays in a short time span of only 120 minutes? 55 impossible multiple choice questions? Gaaahh. Not well prepared. Tomorrow is definitely going to be a Starbucks morning, along with some relaxing BEACHY music to calm me down on the way to my death of an AP EXAM!

Lyrics #2

Okay so I just heard a new song by Keith Urban called "Til Summer Comes Around." A little depressing I must say. The most depressing summer song I've ever heard actually!

*****Another long summer's come and gone
I don't know why it always ends this way
The boardwalk's quiet and the carnival rides
Are as empty as my broken heart tonight

But I close my eyes and one more time
We're spinnin around and you're holdin on tightly
The words came out, I kissed your mouth
No 4th of July has ever burned so brightly
You had to go, I understand
But you promised you'd be back again
And so I wonder 'round this town
'Til summer comes around

I got a job workin at the old park pier
And every summer now for 5 long years
I grease the gears, fix the lights, tighten bolts,
Straighten the tracks
And I count the days til you just might come back

And then I close my eyes and one more time
We're spinnin around and you're holdin on tightly
The words came out, I kissed your mouth
No 4th of July has ever burned so brightly
You had to go, I understand
But you swore that you'd be back again
And so I'm frozen in this town
'Til summer comes around

Oh, and I close my eyes and you and I
Are stuck on the farris wheel rockin with the motion
And hand in hand we cried and laughed
Knowin that love belonged to us, girl,
If only for a moment
Baby, I'll be back again, you whispered in my ear
But now the winter wind is the only sound
And everything is closin down
'Til summer comes around

MeloDY (:

Not only do the country music lyrics bring about the summer mood, but the melody plays a major role as well. Take any popular country song, remove the lyrics, and imagine sitting on the beach relaxing. Pick any song from my playlist on the right, close your eyes, and let your mind wonder. Where does it lead you? A backwoods bonfire? A beach in mexico? Or a summer night under the stars with your summer romance? The possibilites are endless, but I can guarentee there isn't a country melody that would cause the image of a cold, snowy day.

What is it about the melody? That's the big question. Do the artists and record labels plan it that way? Or is it simply that the country genre in general is "hot" like the summer sun? My theory is this: summertime music sells. Sells albums, and sells concert tickets..ironically all during the SUMMERTIME. In my opinion, the summertime feel to country music is no coincidence.

LYRiCS.

How many times have we posted a facebook status with lyrics, reflecting our mood that day? Or popped in a certain CD that shaped the kind of day we'd have? Everyday ritual for me! Lyrics seem to be the reason we like certain types of music. Not only do they lyrics put us in moods, they encourage us to think deeply about the song's meaning.
Country music's most evident "mood" is that of summertime. The lyrics to most country songs cause easy-going feelings, similar to the feeling of sitting on the beach baking in the warm sun! My personal favorite summertime song is "Summertime", written by the beach king himself, Kenny Chesney.

Woo! I'm completely jacked for SUMMERTIME!! :) Kenny and his beautiful lyrics.. "it's a smile. it's a kiss. it's a sip of wine. sweeet summertime." Is it the fact that he emphasizes the little things that make summer great? Or the beachy melody? Which one gives us the "summer feel"?

MEGA TICKET NEWS !

MEGA TICKET CONCERTS 2010:
--Brad Paisley
--Tim Mcgraw
--Toby Keith
--Sugarland
--Rascal Flatts
--Brooks & Dunn; TBA? due to their recent separation?

Ahh the Mega Ticket. Reason number one for this country music fad. How many have been to at least one Verizon Wireless country concert in the summer? Which ones? I was there! Even if the artist performing isn't my favorite, I still get so into it. Whether it be dressing up in cute SUMMER clothes, hanging with friends, or listening to "beachy" music, it's all fun. Not to mention half the audience knows my name. It's like one big redneck rockin' "summer night".

ACM Awards! :)

Hey readers! Anyone watch the ACM Awards on Sunday night? Hosted by Reba McIntire, the show was witty, charming, and quite musically enhanced. With performances by Rascal Flatts, Taylor Swift, and Kenny Chesney, the night dazzled with the world's biggest rock-I mean country-stars.

Speaking of dazzling, Carrie Underwood showed off her star quality at the ACMA's. Winning Entertainer of the Year for the second year in a row surprised Carrie to tears..again! But I can't say it surprised me, or the rest of the viewers. This All-American idol winner should be making many more appearances in the winning circle. :) :)
